  • The release-holdback on the AH-64’s external stores (e.g., Hellfire missiles, rockets) mounted on the wing pylons or suitable carriage points, integrated with the helicopter’s weapons management system. AH-64 is the most advanced helicopter in the US arsenal.
  • A holdback element physically engages a latching interface on the store to prevent premature release. The weapon is wired to the aircraft’s release signal. When the fire-control or release system commands disposal, the holdback is released (or aRelease Link/retaining mechanism is actuated), allowing the munition to separate from the pylon in the proper sequence. The system ensures proper clearance and aerodynamics before full separation.
